The puppies have had a busy week!

They are 5 weeks old today. We have had a couple of trips outside and I did my best with photos today.

I got on the ground at their level which should have been good for photo taking, but they kept piling on top of me. I could have gotten some great photos on my lap had I longer arms!

They still look very much alike puppy to puppy. I can tell the boys from the girls in person, but couldn’t tell in the photos. They are all wearing identifying color collars, but only one puppy was kind enough to show her collar during photos.

The puppies are using their litter pan nearly 100%. They should be 100% by the time they leave which should facilitate easy housebreaking.

The puppies have some toddler toys in their indoor pen. They make noise, have flashing lights or play music depending on what the puppy does. It has mostly been by accident up to this, but they have started to figure out they can make things happen by pulling on various items, pushing on a lever or turning a wheel. You can thank me for such a smart puppy OR curse me later. lolol

They were introduced to the noise audio CD which has babies crying kids running and screaming, sirens, storms, gun shots, lawn mowers, etc. etc. etc. They have listen to it enough that they have started sleeping through it – a very good sign.

They are also going to bed with an audio training CD called “Through A Dog’s Ear.” It is very soft piano music. When the music goes on, they settle down for the night and we don’t hear a peep out of them until we get up for work. They slept in this morning until 6 am!!!! Any of our prior owners who have continued to use the Through A Dog’s Ear CDs report better/more sleep in the early weeks of puppy-dom.

I case I have not mentioned it to everyone this is the “N” litter. The registered name needs to be Double Ring N……………. The call name can be anything at all or something associated with the registered name.

ALL of the puppies have to be registered. I have it set up so they can be registered online. I have jumped through all of the hoops to become an AKC breeder of merit and that is one of the requirements.

My old boy Aries (age 10) likes the puppies. He lays by their pen when they are outside or inside. This morning he was laying by their pen indoors and kept wagging his tail and wagging his tail. When he finally got up I saw what made him happy. The puppies were busy pulling on his loose undercoat and had quite a pile of fur pulled into their pen. Aries got groomed this afternoon!
