2007 National Specialty

This year’s 2007 National Specialty show was special in a lot of ways...

The trip through the Allegheny and Blue Ridge Mountains was breathtaking. The Holiday Inn in Hampton, VA was a great place to stay. New friends, and old friends, from as far away as California, Washington, Maine and Florida came to the event. The camaraderie was great.

And last, but not least, this year’s judge was retired Kuvasz breeder, Linda Lloyd. The usual specialty judges are AKC All-Breed judges. This was the first time the show has been judged by an experienced Kuvasz breeder who is also a judge.

Dorie Engstrom, also a retired Kuvasz breeder, judged the sweepstakes.

When all was said and done, Double Ring Kuvasz came away with the following wins:

Best In Sweepstakes – Double Ring Centerfold, aka Bunny (see her page here)

Best Veteran In Sweepstakes – Ch Double Ring Moon Shadow, aka Max. Max also won Best of Opposite Sex to the Best of Breed winner on 3 out of 4 days – all from the veteran class. The one day Max was defeated, it was by Ch Double Ring Peterbilt, aka Cargo.

Winners Bitch & Best of Winners – Double Ring Rebel Ridge Waterford, aka Crystal

Reserve Winners Dog – Double Ring Tarees Zodiac, aka Aries. Aries went on to earn Winners Dog for 3 major wins over the weekend.

Award of Merit – Ch Double Ring Peterbilt, aka Cargo  Cargo also took Best Opposite Sex (May 28, 2007) under Judge Barbara Dempsey Alderman, while Cargo's daughter (Ch Rebel Ridge Southern Beauty) took Best of Breed!

Reserve Winners Bitch & Best Puppy – Double Ring Dream Dancer (aka Zury) Zury is owned and handled by Ashley Resener.

Best Bred By Exhibitor – Double Ring Tarees Zodiac. (see Aires here)

Best Veteran – Ch Double Ring Moonlight Serenade (aka Sera). Sera was handled by 14 year-old Junior Handler, Ashley Resener. Ashley and Sera pulled off a really big win on May 27 under Judge Charlotte Clem McGowan by going Best of Breed. Sera may be a veteran, but she is still quite the show girl.

A special congratulations to Robin & Tony Miller breeders of BISS, Ch Rebel Ridge Southern Beauty, CGC . Lola is the daughter of Ch Double Ring Peterbilt and Ch Double Ring New Southern Glory.

Congratulations to all who won, showed, or just showed up.

Congratulations to Steve and Attila!

The 2006 year-end Kuvaszok Breed & All-Breed Show Results are in (click here) and we're proud of our small kennel.

Though our personal life left little room for the show ring this past year, we're happy to say that Double Ring Kuvasz is the proud Breeder of the #1 TOP WINNING DOG for 2006; All Breed AND Breed winner: CH Double Ring Peterbilt!

CH Double Ring New Southern Glory is also honored as a TOP PRODUCING BITCH for 2006. Her first (and only) litter produced 3 beautiful new champions this past year!

CONGRATULATIONS to Tony & Robin Miller on all the new champions out of their first Rebel Ridge litter. GO Attila the Barbarian!

Double Ring Barbarian (aka Attila) is an Apollo x Sophie son. He made his ring debut in September. Owner: Steve Oppenheimer. see Attila here.

Another New Double Ring Champion

New champion! Ch Double Ring Mauna Kea Grrreat ("Toni ") sired by Ch Mauna Kea's Limited Release (Shiraz) out of Ch Double Ring Mauna Kea On A Whim (click here)

Toni is a super sweet girl who always has a moment to spend with her admirers. At home she is playful, but much prefers occupying someone's lap!

Crystal, Our Aspiring Therapy Girl!

Double Ring Rebel Ridge Waterford (aka "Crystal") won her first point recently and made the cut in GROUP the first time in the ring! I don't have any new pictures of Crystal but hope to have some up soon. see Crystal here

Crystal's personal mission in life is to be a therapy dog. She will find every wheelchair and drag us over to befriend the people occupying them!

2006 National Specialty, Louisville KY.

Specialty day and weekend all seems a big blur. I chaired the show the day of the Specialty and really didn't get to see as much as I would like. We are waiting for the DVD to arrive.

There were some special moments that will be with us for a lifetime...

Ch Double Ring Cat Dancing WW at 11 years old went to the Specialty as a veteran. She won the Veteran Sweepstakes. She is the dog who was always full of mischief. She is still full of mischief as a senior, just more polished about it! We have always said "Cat" is affected by the "Royal Syndrome." Cat has ideas about how she is to be treated, and doesn't hesitate to make her wishes known!

Everyone wonders how "Cat" got her name. Our granddaughter was 3 years-old and could only say "Cat." It was our "C" litter (the first time). Every time the granddaughter called, "Cat, Cat," this puppy would go running to her. Some how it just stuck and she became Cat Dancing. Cat Dancing danced her way through the specialty and wowed the crowd.

see Cat's new picture here

A friend's 13 year-old daughter expressed an interest in showing a Kuvasz, so we brought Ch Double Ring Moonlight Serenade out of retirement for the weekend. Ashley Resener showed Sera in Juniors and as a Special. They made the cut for the breed win all the way down to the wire most of the days. Ashley did a stunning job showing Sera and won a really nice trophy and prizes. She is looking forward to showing Sera some more and having a Kuvasz puppy of her own in the future.

Double Ring Rebel Ridge Waterford ("Crystal") won her Bred by Exhibitor class.

Double Ring A Matter of Time ("Matty") won her puppy class the one day she was shown.

Other special moments were seeing Tony & Robin Miller finish Ch Double Ring Under Cover ("Spy").

The Miller's girl, Ch Double Ring New Southern Glory ("Glory") won several Awards of Merit.

We get to share the bragging rights on the following because both parents are Double Ring dogs:

Glory's kids out of Ch Double Ring Peterbilt did really well, too with a Best of Opposite in Sweepstakes for Rebel Ridge Southern Sensation, CGC ("Diva").

Rebel Ridge Southern Beauty ("Lola") picked up a 5 point Major.

Johnny Bridges with Rebel Ridge Southern Cross ("Duke") won a Major, too.

It was a great week and we hope to have more new pictures coming soon.

December 2005

Chuck and I went to our kennel club's annual party last night. (Spirit of the Heartland Kennel Club)

They surprised us with a Lifetime Membership Award for service to the club; as founding members of the club; and for service to the community and to individual club members.

We are always available to help new, and old, with training, have held a lot of hands at ringside, have taken middle-of the-night telephone calls for anyone who needed help with whelping a litter; and we've even gone to help with some litters and helped to evaluate puppies, etc.

It was a huge surprise and very heart-warming!

September 2005

Pixy still on a winning roll!

PIXY (Ch. Double Ring Phairy Tale) BRINGS HOME ANOTHER GROUP 4th!

Congratulations to co-owner Sandy Herring for Pixy's latest win on Sept.17th under Judge Harry Smith in Sullivan, MO. (To date, Pixy is #1 in All-Breed points with 1,262 total number of dogs defeated in All-Breed competition.)

click here to go to her page.

Sera Proves she still loves "bling bling" of the show ring!

Sera takes TWO back-to-back GROUP 3s over the weekend!

Sera (Ch. Double Ring Moonlight Serenade) was semi-retired from the show ring in February, 2003. We decided to have a little fun with her and off to dog show we go (Belleville Illinois) on Sept 10th & 11th.

TWO Working Group 3's later, Sera proves she hasn't lost her magic touch and showy figure, after whelping two litters of puppies during her hiatus from the ring. (And it's only been about 5 months since her last litter!)

A great big thank you goes to judges Norman Herbel and Pat Hastings for honoring Sera with Working Group placements.
